Savanna RX-7
The RX-7 (FC3S) got a major upgrade for 1985 with a new body design, new 13B turbo rotary EGI with intercooler engine, and new independent multilink rear suspension. In 1989, the 13B engine was upgraded with an independent twin scrolling turbo that increased the power to 205 bhp. |

Savanna RX-7 Cabriolet
Mazda introduced the RX-7 convertible to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the debut of the rotary engine. For the first time, Mazda now offered a factory built convertible assembled to extremely high tolerences and with added strength. The roof was semi-electric operated with manual latches. The roof had a rigid top section with a fully lined rag rear producing a snug and quiet roof, which is very aerodynamic (0.33 CD top up and 0.38 CD top down versus 0.29 CD for the hard top). The rear window was also made of glass with defrost elements built in. In Japan, the convertible only came with the 185 bhp 13B Turbo engine. |
