Used vehicle import services
JNS Imports provides the following services for our customers:
| 1. |
$899 Flat Rate Import Service
We charge a flat rate import service fee of $899.00 CAD (plus GST) when you purchase a vehicle through JNS Imports from our suppliers' stock. The flat rate applies to all vehicles regardless of their cost.
All that you pay is the total landed cost of the vehicle (to the port of New Westminster, BC, Canada) plus our $899 fee.
We will handle the entire process to purchase, ship, and import your desired vehicle from our suppliers in Japan.
Once the vehicle has been imported, we will provide you with all the receipts/invoices for all the charges associated with the import process.
What the Flat Rate Import Service Means to You
- We will provide you with all of the costs and receipts for your import.
- You will pay less GST on the price of the car. Since the vehicle will be in your name when it's imported, the GST will only be on the FOB price of the vehicle.
- You can be confident you are getting the best possible price on your import.
- You get all of the economical benefits of importing on your own, but you can leverage our experience of over 3 years in the JDM vehicle import industry.

Quickly Find a Vehicle Yourself Directly from Our Supplier Stock
Our Vehicles for Sale section includes a list of our suppliers in Japan as well as links to their web site and/or their on-line stock list. So now you have the option of researching suitable vehicles on your own. There is also a link to our Cost Estimate Charts that will allow you to quickly estimate the total cost of a vehicle from most of our suppliers.
We have a few suppliers that do not publish their stock, so we will still post additional vehicle notices with some of their stock. We also receive some notices from suppliers for vehicles that may not be published on their web site for another week or two, so we may post advanced notices for those vehicles as well. Occasionally, suppliers may reduce the price of a vehicle to move it out of their stock more quickly, so we may post notices for those, too.
Note that the notices we post on our web site in the Vehicles for Sale section are also sent via e-mail to our JNS Club members. Click on the JNS Club button in the left menu to find out how to sign up to be a JNS Club member.
Alternate Supplier Stock
In addition to our regular suppliers in Japan, we have also made business arrangements with two Australian based importers who've been involved in the JDM import industry for several years and have an extensive supplier stock list from many suppliers in Japan.
Through an exclusive arrangement with Prestige Motorsport, we can offer our customers a flat rate import service fee of $999 CAD (plus GST), which includes both the Prestige Motorsport fee (which is typically $1000 AUD plus their GST) as well as our own import service fee (which is typically $899 CAD).
Through an arrangement with J-Spec Imports, we can offer our customers a flat rate import service fee of $1,199 CAD (plus GST), which includes both the J-Spec Imports fee (which is typically $1000 CAD plus their GST) as well as our own import service fee (which is typically $899 CAD).
Additional Charges
The cost of shipping the vehicle from the port of New Westminster, BC (where the vehicles arrive for import into Canada), to your Canadian destination will be your responsibility. Note that we will arrange the shipping for you if you want and bill you separately for it, or you can arrange the shipping yourself.
Some suppliers promote vehicles that are located with other dealerships or private sales in Japan. Hence, the location of some vehicles may be in such places that may require additional land shipping. And thus, there may be an additional charge of $300 to $600 CAD to accommodate the cost of additional land shipping. We will try our best to obtain that information from the supplier before finalizing the purchase.
Vehicle Repairs
All vehicle repairs and repair costs required to pass an out-of-province inspection will be the customer's responsibility. We can not guarantee the condition of vehicles or vehicle parts on the imported used vehicles provided by suppliers in Japan.

$499 Vehicle Search Service
If you don't find what you're looking for in our notices or in our suppliers' stock lists, you may want to consider using our Vehicle Search Service.
We charge a $499.00 CAD (plus GST) fee for this service up front.
We specifically request certain suppliers to locate a vehicle that matches the criteria you're looking for. If you decide to purchase a vehicle we locate for you, we will charge you $400.00 CAD (plus GST), which is the remaining portion due for our $899 Flat Rate Import Service fee.

Auction Purchases
If you want, we can accommodate purchasing vehicles from auctions in Japan. We treat it similar to our Vehicle Search Service and require a $499 CAD (plust GST) fee up front. We will inquire with suppliers to locate a matching vehicle, but we will also look at the auctions for a matching vehicle.
If you decide to purchase a vehicle we locate for you, we will charge you $400.00 CAD (plus GST), which is the remaining portion due for our $899 Flat Rate Import Service fee.
Note that we do not typically purchase directly from an auction as we have particular brokers in Japan that we use for purchasing from auctions. The main reason why we use these brokers is that they have staff members attending the various auctions in Japan who are able to visually inspect the vehicles we are interested in bidding on to ensure that the grade and condition of the vehicle has been properly represented, as well as ensure that there are not any obvious signs of potential problems (such as fluid leaks, misaligned/separated panels, etc.).
Note that auction houses may list a vehicle with a low auction grade due to the modifications and performance upgrades on the vehicle. However, the overall condition of the vehicle may be of higher quality/condition. But, due to the low auction grade, there may be less interest in the vehicle, and thus, fetch a lower price at the auction. Our brokers' staff at the auctions can assess the true quality/condition of some of these lower graded vehicles, and pass that information back to us to make a more informed decision on whether a vehicle should be purchased.

To secure the purchase of a vehicle, we require a signed service agreement and a deposit that's equivalent to the estimated landed cost of your selected vehicle. When you contact us about the vehicle, we will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate. The required deposit amount will also be shown on the service agreement we send you.
We prefer the deposit payment to be made by wire transfer or fund transfer (via Royal Bank of Canada) to reduce delays in the purchase process. But we will also accept payment via by bank draft, certified cheque, or money order. Note that we can not proceed with purchasing the vehicle from our supplier until we receive both the signed agreement and the cleared deposit payment.
Please read our Refund Policy for more information regarding the refunds of deposits.

Save Time and Money... Let the Experts Handle It
JNS Imports has been importing used vehicles from Japan since 2002, so we've been able to streamline our import process and keep the costs to a minimum.
You don't need any experience with importing whatsoever as JNS Imports will handle the entire purchase and import process. Thus, there's less chance of delays or mistakes, which would otherwise end up costing you extra money.
You only have to deal with one vendor -- JNS Imports. All your communication and payments are made directly with JNS Imports, and we then deal with the communication and payments with the suppliers in Japan. Thus, you don't have to waste time during business hours making international bank transfers (which currently can not be done via the web).
Quality Used Vehicles
JNS Imports has established trusting business relationships with the appropriate suppliers and brokers in Japan to facilitate the search and purchase of quality used vehicles from Japan. Our continued working relationship with these suppliers and brokers ensures that we receive the quality of vehicle we are expecting with a quick turnaround time.
Supplier Discounts
Since we've purchased a large volume of vehicles from the same suppliers, we are offered discounts with some suppliers that the general public is not offered, so sometimes our service fee is significantly covered due to the discounted price we receive from particular suppliers.
Cost Effective Shipping
We have established efficient and cost effective shipping and freight forwarding solutions to keep import costs down and reduce shipping delays.
Complete Documentation
You will be provided with receipts for all costs associated with the purchase and import of your vehicle, and we do not hide our suppliers, so you can be sure you are paying the lowest cost for your imported vehicle.
We will provide a document outlining the next steps you should follow when you receive your vehicle and want to register and insure it.
You will also receive the following documents for your records and for the purpose of registering and insuring your vehicle:
- Bill of Sale (or invoice) from the supplier in Japan
- Transport Canada Vehicle Import Form - Form 1
- Certificate of Cancellation of Vehicle Registration from Japan
